MUA Goes Lovey Dovey

How cute is the ring???

With Valentines Day just a few hours away MUA Makeup Academy has Cupid spreading sweetness all over the town with the launch of the Love Hearts collection, which consists of five moisturising lip balms to help you pucker up and six pretty nail varnishes. The range is presented in colourful kitsch packaging with Love Hearts sayings as you would find on the candy's.

Which shade will you choose?

MUA have certainly kept on trend with their Nail Varnishes in pastel shades with playful names such as I WANT YOU, U & I, U ROK, U R FAB, I <3 U and Love U 24/7 and are priced at £2 each, while the Lip Balms are cheekily named Sweet Kiss, Hot Lips, Kiss Me, Sugar Lips and Great Lips, also priced at £2 each. The collection is available now from MUA's online store and Superdrug.

Protective Styling: Kinky Twist Updo

I have always admired the kinky twist hairstyle when I have seen both women and children wearing them. So I decided that i'd give them a try and have been wearing kinky twists for about 3 weeks now. This is my second time that I have worn hair extensions since going natural in 2009. The first being in Summer 2011 when I wore braids. For some reason I don't like wearing my braids down so this weekend I decided to get 'creative' and attempted an updo! I received quite a few lovely compliments and head nods so thought i'd take a few snaps and share with my Glam Squad.

Have you worn kinky twists before? How did you style them? I'd love to know!

Remembering Whitney Elizabeth Houston - August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012

Like many I woke up to the very sad news yesterday morning (in the UK) of the passing of Whitney Houston. Her music was the soundtrack to my childhood. My very first album was 'Whitney' on record/vinyl (remember those?) a gift from my parents and my second album ironically was by Bobby Brown 'Don't Be Cruel'. Till today 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' is still my favourite feel good song and I have been known to pull out a hairbrush in the middle of a club/party/bar/shop (don't judge me lol) when this song comes on, it just takes me back to being that little singer in front of the mirror.

I wanted to be 'that pretty girl' when I grew up

I'd say that in the mid 90s is when I started to appreciate not only 'the voice' but also Ms Houston' stunning make-up. Whitney always looked elegant, sophisticated, she just oozed glamour; her skin flawlessly  bronzed with a subtle neutral or smokey eye and frosted coppertone or red lipstick seemed to be her signature look and it was a winner! In this post i'd like to share just a few beautiful images of one of the greatest female singers of all time Ms Whitney Elizabeth Houston. May she now rest peacefully in the arms of the greatest love of all.
