How cute is the ring???

With Valentines Day just a few hours away MUA Makeup Academy has Cupid spreading sweetness all over the town with the launch of the Love Hearts collection, which consists of five moisturising lip balms to help you pucker up and six pretty nail varnishes. The range is presented in colourful kitsch packaging with Love Hearts sayings as you would find on the candy's.

Which shade will you choose?

MUA have certainly kept on trend with their Nail Varnishes in pastel shades with playful names such as I WANT YOU, U & I, U ROK, U R FAB, I <3 U and Love U 24/7 and are priced at £2 each, while the Lip Balms are cheekily named Sweet Kiss, Hot Lips, Kiss Me, Sugar Lips and Great Lips, also priced at £2 each. The collection is available now from MUA's online store and Superdrug.

Protective Styling: Kinky Twist Updo

I have always admired the kinky twist hairstyle when I have seen both women and children wearing them. So I decided that i'd give them a try and have been wearing kinky twists for about 3 weeks now. This is my second time that I have worn hair extensions since going natural in 2009. The first being in Summer 2011 when I wore braids. For some reason I don't like wearing my braids down so this weekend I decided to get 'creative' and attempted an updo! I received quite a few lovely compliments and head nods so thought i'd take a few snaps and share with my Glam Squad.

Have you worn kinky twists before? How did you style them? I'd love to know!

Remembering Whitney Elizabeth Houston - August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012

Like many I woke up to the very sad news yesterday morning (in the UK) of the passing of Whitney Houston. Her music was the soundtrack to my childhood. My very first album was 'Whitney' on record/vinyl (remember those?) a gift from my parents and my second album ironically was by Bobby Brown 'Don't Be Cruel'. Till today 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' is still my favourite feel good song and I have been known to pull out a hairbrush in the middle of a club/party/bar/shop (don't judge me lol) when this song comes on, it just takes me back to being that little singer in front of the mirror.

I wanted to be 'that pretty girl' when I grew up

I'd say that in the mid 90s is when I started to appreciate not only 'the voice' but also Ms Houston' stunning make-up. Whitney always looked elegant, sophisticated, she just oozed glamour; her skin flawlessly  bronzed with a subtle neutral or smokey eye and frosted coppertone or red lipstick seemed to be her signature look and it was a winner! In this post i'd like to share just a few beautiful images of one of the greatest female singers of all time Ms Whitney Elizabeth Houston. May she now rest peacefully in the arms of the greatest love of all.

Lemons....

...i'm sipping mine right now.

Naaah...seriously there aren't really any lemons, life is in fact pretty good. 'Life' has just taken me away from my blog over the last several weeks. I had been working on a  few outside projects at the time of my last post and then I started a new job, so I wasn't able to blog and a week had passed, then like BOOOM!!!

The laptop died on me, so right now I am unable to complete the posts that I have already made a start on.

So I thought i'd take this opportunity [whilst i'm sneekily using the siblings laptop] to thank you beautiful souls for STILL hanging in there with me!! I apologise profusely for the SILENCE its not intentional, as soon as I can get this laptop fixed, Marked for Glamour will start picking up the pace again!

Side note:
I hope that my Trin-Bago viewers took full ADVANTAGE of the Savannah at Carnival this week - I had planned on doing my first FOTD dedicated to Trinidad's Carnival, but nevermind there are plenty more carnivals to come worldwide so i'll make it happen, but right now i'm WOTLESS! (",)

On a serious note:
I'd also like to take this time to send my love and prayers to the people of Japan [I hope that my Japanese Glam Squad and loved ones are all safe and well] in the recent events of this week, my thoughts are with you, may God be your comfort and strength at this sad time.

Well until the laptop saga ends....

Stay Glam!

Embracing My Natural Veil [Hair]

Me as a child with my natural hair; 4 years of age.

Today I thought i'd share with you a little [well kinda lil] bit about my  'natural hair' journey - third time on record.

On Saturday 10th October 2009, I sat in a Salon staring at the mirror contemplating what to do with my hair. I was in the process of trying to grow my hair out of a cropped Rihanna-esque hair style. But the condition of my hair of late was getting to me, I had that one problem area that just had a mind of its own #yeahthat. This one area had been growing fine and then *poof* disappeared like Delilah herself had come like a 'thief in the night' and done the honors of shaving it off! #mysamsonmoment dramatic, oui! o_O My hairdresser was as baffled as I was at why this had happened and suggested that perhaps it may have been caused by some sort of trauma [I had an op, mind you that was late 07 when that took place - trauma??] or medication that I was on at the time that may have contributed to this mysterious hair breakage, and *cough* dryyyyness.

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Collection

This May look forward to an OPI collaboration with the upcoming film from Disney The Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Sidenote: I am sooo excited about this film, since some of the scenes were filmed on my campus - whilst I was sat in lectures at my university last autumn/fall, and I love Mr Depp! Anyhooos...back to the news!

There will be six shades available in the range: Mermaid’s Tears, Stranger Tides, Planks A Lot, Sparrow Me The Drama, Skull & Glossbones, Steady As She Rose as well as a Silver Shatter Top Coat. Imagine how amazing a shatter effect in silver is going to be ay? With just one coat of the Silver Shatter over any dry nail lacquer will result in a crackle pattern appearing instantly. The new shades are priced individually at £10.50 each and there will also be Pirates of the Caribbean Minis - sold as packs of four for £12.75. Stockists include www.lenawhite.co.uk

So who's going to be walking the plank in May to discover Stranger Tides?

R&B Singer Monica Signs Deal With Orly

Monica: Her make up is always flawless - simply beautiful!

So I happened to wake up at an ungodly hour this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I thought i'd log on to Twitter. Upon scrolling down the timeline, I came across a tweet from singer Monica which read "Thanks Team Monica 4 the support, just closed the deal for my nail polish line. It's an extension of Orly". The tweet was accompanied by the photo below of some dark hued nail polishes and nail products.Whether these are the said polishes hasn't been confirmed.

Monica also Tweeted that she would be naming one of the polishes after one of her adoring fans, so watch this space for more deatils as they unfold!
